2009 Fall Bible Study at St. Michael

Do you think “Tamara” is a spaghetti sauce?

This question and a whole “Host” of other questions can be answered through Bible study.

All are welcome – Catholic or non-Catholic, Parishioners or non-Parishioners, Experienced or Novice, those seeking book knowledge or those seeking God.

Adventures in Revelation – The Kingdom Yet to Come (By Jeff Cavins) – 10 weeks

This 10-week study takes a look at one of the most talked-about books in Scripture – Revelation.  It will demonstrate how the Kingdom established by Christ in His Church is intimately connected with the Kingdom of Heaven, especially through the celebration of the Mass. You will also learn what all the mysterious figures and images of Revelation represent and what is happening now in salvation history.

First Corinthians: The Church and the Christian Community (By Jeff Cavins) – 10 weeks

This 10-week study looks at the conflicts of the early Christians in Corinth, which are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Christians. With divisions, immorality, persecution, and other trials of the faithful, the message of St. Paul to the Corinthians is a much-needed message for our own times.

Exodus: Called to Freedom (By Jeff Cavins) – 10 weeks

This 10-week study looks at how Moses freed His people from the domination of Pharaoh.  It also looks at God’s desire to free His people from the far more sinister tyranny of sin, so they could live the authentic freedom that belongs to children of God.  The Exodus story is not just Israel’s story; it is our story as well; it tells us who God is and what He calls us to be.

Adventures in Matthew: The King and His Kingdom (By Jeff Cavins) – 24 weeks

The 24-week study focuses on Jesus Christ and His glorious plan for His Body, the Church. It also focuses on Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament promises and on his establishment of the Church as the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.

I Believe – At the Heart of Catholic Faith - The Creed (By Marcellino D’Ambrosio) – 4 weeks

In this 4-week video series on the Nicene Creed, the author explains how the very heart of Catholicism is all about intimate, personal relationship with God.   “I Believe" follows the outline of the Nicene Creed, but don't be mistaken--it is far from a stuffy, academic presentation of the basic beliefs of Roman Catholicism!
