1) Adult Education: Jan Preher
Members of this committee plan and host educational opportunities for parishioners, both liturgical and secular in nature. Educational needs are identified through interaction with members of the parish, adults interested in coordinating small or large group activities on a regular or as needed basis are welcome.

A seven-member board oversees and directs the St. Michael Athletic Department. The pastor appoints the athletic director and board positions are elected for two-year terms. Committee meetings are held on the second Monday of each month. Committee members can serve as seasonal sports coordinators and coaches for the duration of that season, while others may choose to occasionally serve in specific roles, such as assisting with seasonal awards banquets, fundraising events and Athletic Department “Appreciation Days.” A background check is required for all coaching positions.
3) Youth Ministry: Aaron Frazita
Youth Ministry at St. Michael is a program for youth and adults to walk together and grow in their faith journeys. It is lead by the Youth Advocacy Leadership Team (Y.A.L.T.) and provides a chance for participants to grow through prayer, service, justice work, education, mentoring, youth rallies, and retreats.
Junior High & Senior High Programs: The program consists of both a high school program of 9th through 12th grade students and a junior high program consisting of 7th and 8th grade students. The programs do work together at different events throughout the year and are both represented on the Youth Advocacy Leadership Team. High school meets on Sunday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the school year, and junior high meets on two Tuesday nights a month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. throughout the school year in the Youth Space located in the Parish Offices.
Mentors are needed to help out with all of the programming within youth ministry and are welcome to join us to provide positive examples of adults living out their call to live as Christians. Mentors are needed both for one night events, longer projects and are invited to be a part of our Leadership Team.
4) Lifelong Learning Center School Volunteer Organizatin (S.V.O): Carrie Laha
What gifts or talents can you bring to the children in our school? Parishioners without children in school can offer their time by becoming a part of this committee. You will be contacted as opportunities arise to volunteer within the school. Please attach a note to your stewardship opportunities form if there is a particular skill or area of expertise you would be willing to share with our students.
5) Men's Group: Darryl Smith
This is a group for the men of the parish where we promote a mission of spiritual growth by the use of prayer, outreach, and social interaction. Retreats and Days of Reflection guide us on our journey. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday each at 7:00 PM. Characteristics: A way to learn what it means to be a Christian man in today’s society.
6) Nursery Co-op: Karen Duff
Volunteers oversee the care of children ages 6 months to 3 years during the 10:00 a.m. liturgy. Toys are available to help entertain the children, and snacks are served. A background check is required on all volunteers who must also read and sign off on literature from the Archdiocese about working with children.
7) Sisters Act: Adrienne Westerfield
“Sisters Act” is a group of parish women who are “Sisters” in Christ that “Act” together, socially, spiritually, and to do service work. We try to be available to the parish when a need arises. Some of our social activities include: movie and popcorn nights, book review nights, a summer swimming party, a bonfire and s’mores party in the fall. Some of the spiritual activities include: prayer time at our meetings, the organization of the women’s retreat every other fall, and guest speaker nights with a spiritual message. Some of our service work includes: collecting items and assembling Easter baskets for Louisville area homeless women and for the boys and girls being cared for by Boys’ Haven, providing cleanup for a night of St. Michael’s fish fry, fixing and serving the Simple Supper during Lent, and making fleece blankets for the needy in the community. Our group recently decided to play a more active role in helping to fill some greater needs at Boys’ Haven and will be contributing to many of their projects over the upcoming year. We meet once per month generally on the first Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the B/C room of the parish offices.
8) Scouting
Adult leaders are needed for the various levels of scouting programs that are offered at St. Michael. Leaders receive training, and background checks are required. Scouting activities include meetings, outings, fund-raising efforts and community service projects. Parish members are also needed to assist leaders with scouting activities on a regular or occasional basis.
